It’s often too easy to be SO much in the “now” that you forget how you got there. Does that resonate with you? I came to Taunton in 2009 having met my (now) husband, SImon. I’d spent several years before I met him as a single parent. I had a story and plenty of baggage. Simon gave me the opportunity to re-train. At the age of 38, I qualified as a “Beauty” and Massage therapist from the ITEC Accredited Jotra Academy in Bristol with distinctions across the board, and was awarded “Student of the Year”.
That incredible gesture of trust put me on a pathway which lead me to the place I now call home. Almost 15 years on, I have been nominated for, and won a number of award; My most prestigious to date is the Winner of the 2025 Professional Beauty Award in the category of Best Home Based Beauty Business.
As a family, we have encountered many of life’s ups and downs since my nomination, including the death of my beloved Mother-in-Law, our eldest son getting married (YAY), my husband being made redundant, winning the professional beauty award (YAY), various health challenges (not all mine) and then of course, my Big Brother coming to unexpectedly live with us after a 5 year estrangement! He has learning disabilities and autism and is a complex, yet lovely human. We’ve tackled a broken Adult Social Care system, fought tirelessly for justice, and our battle continues daily even though he has now moved into a new, fabulous home (BIGGEST OF “YAYS”). I’ve had to side-step my work in recent months to effectively tackle the red tape, and I cut straight through it! Of course 🙂
My work is far from done, and I am blessed with the most wonderful clients. I am only sorry I cannot see more people to nurture. It’s what I do and it’s what I love. So even through the darkest of skies is a yearning for me to “serve”. To serve my clients the very best I can.
We all have life challenges, and I am no different. But i’ll tell you something…. “Crisis Management” will make an AMAZING chapter in my next project 🙂
I’ll be taking time out from 26th September to recouperate and find my ground again. I unapologetically step aside for me this time.
“If you do not make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness” *
* Regardless of its precise origin, the saying is a widely used modern adage, repeated across social media and in wellness circles. It is a simple, impactful summary of the importance of preventative health and the consequences of neglecting self-care. The quote’s enduring popularity comes from its universal and easily understandable message.
