It’s not all work, work, work you know! All work and no play makes for dull days!
I have worked weekends since I was old enough to work (Yes, it was actually legal to work at Age 12 when I was 12), and continued to do so until March 2020 when Covid closed my business, The Garden Room, Taunton.
Life changed dramatically overnight, as it did for so many. Covid was not kind to The Tildens, but we pivoited, and emerged stronger and more focussed.
I’ve always enjoyed excercise, and during certain periods of my youth have been a very good athlete. I started running in my 30’s and never looked back.
Now, I’m not built for distance, and my knees don’t like the cold, wet weather either. I am a fair weather girl for sure, and I run to control my weight. That said, I LOVE Parkrun! Parkrun is a 5k (3 mile) course around our beautiful Longrun Meadow right here in the centre of Taunton, Somerset.
Parkrun takes place all across the world, and in many towns and cities across the UK. Every event is 9.00am Saturday morning wherever you are in the world. Simply have a look at Parkrun.com to find your local event, or to check events where you’re travelling.
If you would like to participate either walking, jogging, running, or dare I say, sprinting the event, simply register on the website. You will be issued a unique barcode, which you need to print and bring to the event for an official time. I have ordered a wristband with my barcode on from the Parkrun website, so i don’t have to worry about it!
When I don’t want to run, I volunteer! There are many volunteering posts available from marshalling (what I love best – just cheerleading people as they pass with applause, words of encouragement, and motivation).
Come on down to Parkun at Longrun Meadow – starts 9am Saturday mornings. Newcomers arrive 10 minutes before for briefing. Have a look at what we do. It’s an amazing community event, free of charge and a warm welcome awaits you!
